I have a little crush on these 19.5" X 26.5" silk-screen posters ($25) from Whigby of famous quotes. I especially think they'd be fun in an office. I can see the above Frank Lloyd Wright poster in a newspaper reporters' cubicle. But what did FLW mean when he said "the truth is more important than the facts"? Below: George Orwell and Sigmund Freud. Check them out, they come in all sorts of color combos!

Trina Turk residential
I stopped into the new Trina Turk residential boutique in Palm Springs (right next to the to the original clothing store) last week on our way to The Parker. My first reaction was feeling underwhelmed. The store looked great, but there wasn't really anything there that was new or different than hundreds of other stores in the country. I'm torn because in terms of fashion Trina Turk was one of the first to bring back the resort looks of the late 60s and early 70s, but they seemed to come into the home store scene a little late. Their own fabrics used for pillows and seat cushions also looked like they were made with polyesther or something even cheaper—which the prices weren't. That said, they had some cool little antiques, like ashtrays and tumblers, that were one-of-a-kind. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Palm Springs, but don't get too excited. 895 N. Palm Canyon Drive Palm Springs, CA.

Free give away!
***UPDATE***
The two winners of "Domino: The Book of Decorating" chosen at random are Billy and Poppy. Please email me your mailing info and I'll send out the books. Thanks!
Hey guys. The peeps over at Simon & Schuster sent me two copies of Domino: The Book of Decorating to give away. It's a fantastic book for all levels of interest and will really help you organize your ideas and visualize your interior space. My lovely cousin Quinn gave me the book this year for my birthday along with a Vitra miniature chair which has become one of my favorite desk tschochkes. If you want to be eligible to win a free copy just leave a comment below citing your favorite office desk tschochke (bobble heads? bottles of booze? Nelson desk clocks?). I'll chose the winners and post their names on Monday.

Paul Smith L.A.

I've been more M.I.A. than I planned to be this week. Part of the reason is because I forgot to pack my camera cord and the other is because it's been so unbelievably beautiful in Southern California that I haven't wanted to do anything but be outside. I took some snaps this afternoon at Paul Smith with my iPhone, but I've got some good stuff for next week including a look inside Trina Turk's residential boutique in Palm Springs. I have to say if I had to pick one clothing store to live in, it would probably be the Paul Smith store on Melrose. They have bikes, they have books, they have an amazing salon wall, they have David Hockney prints, Nelson clocks, vintage Rolexes, do I need to go on?

1960s Cane Chairs

Check out this pair of 1960s Cane Chairs ($2000) from Fyndes, a website similar to First Dibs. Pretty great resource for high-end antiques, art, and furniture. I'm off for L.A. tomorrow for a whole week. I'm sure I'll be chiming in from the West Coast when I can, but it may be spotty.

Non-wedding wedding dresses

So far I've had a pretty decent go at the whole wedding dress shopping experience, and I'm completely overwhelmed. The most important thing I've learned is to not start bleeding at a very nice dress store. I accidentally cut my finger (right on the knuckle—it was really bleeding) and walked away from the experience with the amount of guilt I imagine one would have if they murdered a puppy. So lately I've been thinking maybe I'll just get a white dress that isn't a wedding dress—like the above Dolce & Gabbana number? Or below: Oscar de la Renta, ChloĆ©, Donna Karen. What do you think, would any of you wear these to your wedding? Too short?

To tattoo or not to tattoo

Did you know Barry Goldwater had a tattoo? So did Teddy Roosevelt and his daughter Alice. There's a whole slew or royals that were inked too, like Queen Victoria, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and Princess Stefanie of Monaco—Prince Charles is even rumored to have a tattoo from his Navy days. This weekend I was having dinner with two friends and we wondered if a tattoo is so commonplace now that it's more punk not to have one. What do you think? Chew it over with the below photos of celebs and let me know. Above: Lindsay Lohan's finger tat.

Maptotes

When I travel I always throw a few empty totes in my suitcase, and they always get use, whether for it's to schlep tennis balls, dirty shoes, picnic blankets or cameras. Some of my favorites are these from MapTote ($15-$40). They have a great selection of cities, styles and colors—and I think they make an excellent gift too.

Rain Crepes
I literally ate my way through San Francisco this weekend: Noodles in Japan Town, Bone Marrow at Bar Tartine, Rockfish Hash for brunch at Canteen, Buratta pizza at Beretta, more pizza at Pizzeria Delfina and every bit of it was unbelievably good. But the best meal of them all was Nutella and banana crepes eaten outside in the rain. My friend Ashley and I plopped down post-tennis at a no-name cafe and devoured two delicious crepes with cappuccinos. Best. Lunch. Ever.

Bourbon & Branch

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for San Francisco—one of my most favorite cities to visit. I'll be having a cocktail at around say 10pm PST at Bourbon & Branch with my SF-native friends Katie and Mark who will be in town from NYC. When it comes to booze, I trust their recommendations blindly. A few months ago I asked Katie what she was doing and she texted back: "Sipping a Pink Lady through a brass straw somewhere in the East Village." Bourbon & Branch falls squarely into the recent (past few years or so) speakeasy trend. Signs that you're going to one of these bars would be: they require reservations—sometimes even passwords, standing at the bar is strictly prohibited, photography is strictly prohibited and ordering a Cosmo is strictly prohibited. You can also count on bartenders (nay, mixologists) who labor over each drink order until absolute perfection is achieved. Similarly there's The Violet Hour in Chicago, Pegu Club in New York, etc., etc., etc. Some people get annoyed with the rules and the pretense of these kind of establishments, but I actually really like it.
More blogging coming soon from SF, stay tuned..jpg)

Mini Gator Belt

My friend Danielle works at the Neiman Marcus-owned national boutique chain Cusp—a younger-skewing, women's only, edited selection of dresses, denim, shoes and accessories. Last night I stopped in and she helped me pick out some dresses for upcoming weddings and graduations, and she also hooked me up with my new favorite belt, The Mini Gator Belt by Moss Mills ($98). It's almost sold out, so get one while you can. Oh and the best thing about Cusp, if you haven't experienced it yet is the fact that, unlike Neiman Marcus, they take all forms of plastic.
