Ok, so I actually didn't catch a glimpse of Marina City, but I did see the new University of Chicago business school campus over the long weekend and it was incredible. I'm not kidding, the design and architecture literally made me want to put on some spectacles and take notes. The architect, Rafael Viñoly, brilliantly enclosed what would be the campus' quad into a greenhouse
(winter garden) and also somehow managed to design a thoroughly contemporary structure in the middle of a mostly gothic campus without it feeling out of place. Above is the exterior of the Hyde Park campus (only one block to the north of Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House), to the right is a shot of the 83-foot tall winter garden roof, and below is a shot from the lobby featuring some nice looking wire Eames chairs (get some for yourself at Modernica).
