Eames Plywood Elephant

This June marks the 100th birthday of Charles Eames. To commemorate, Vitra is producing a limited edition of the Eames Plywood Elephant. Designed in 1945, this piece attained legendary status in spite of the fact that it never went into production. In fact, only two prototypes were ever produced, both of which were displayed at the NY Museum of Modern Art. Today only one known model remains in the possession of the Eames Family. Only 1000 more will be made (although it's a lot more than just one) of the 2007 Anniversary Edition in each of two versions, natural maple and red stained maple. No news about when the price will become available, but I'm expecting it to be up there.
