My friend Lisa is in New York for about six weeks doing things that cool photographers do. She's been sending me quick updates about what's going on and I wanted to share two good ones. First, her new favorite place to eat is Cafe Gitane, a hipster Morrocan diner with tasty breakfast food on Mott Street. Notice their sweet Hendix shrine above the register. Second is Dashwood Books on Bond Street. Lisa says "David, the owner, has an infinite knowledge of photo books from turn of the century artists to contemporaries." The must-buy book of the summer is: Passing Through Eden, Photographs of Central Park by Tod Papageorge. Thanks Lisa!
