White TVs: Then and Now

My neighbors Michelle and Emanuel recently purchased a white LCD tv from Samsung and it looks really cool with their white shag carpeting, retro couch, and Moroccan poofs. I think I like it so much because it really harks back to those styles from the 70s that looked like Apollo 11 space helmets mounted on Eero Saarinen bases. The above left "Aphelion" television set, originally introduced in the UK in the 1970s is being reissued in the limited quantity of 250 sets, by special order. Cost? £2145 (approximately $3500). I think I much rather do what Michelle and Emanuel did and go for the sleek and modern Samsung LCD tv that you can get for about $750.
