Aardvark Loteria Cards

Aardvark Letterpress, one of L.A.'s finest letterpress printers, is celebrating its 40th Anniversary—that's 100th in L.A. years. What's so cool is that owners and operators Cary and Brooks Ocon, along with co-curator Lisa Jane Persky, invited a wide variety of artists with strong ties to L.A. to contribute to the first in a series of original, limited edition letterpress prints based on the traditional Mexican game of Loteria. Artists were asked to select and interpret some part of the L.A. experience and to depict it in their own style for a Los Angeles-centric Loteria card. Aardvark will produce 18 original cards, each in an edition of 100. "From drive-in-movie dreams to drive-by wake-up calls, they represent the spectacularly unique highs and lows of living in and loving Los Angeles." The signed and numbered pieces will be sold at the Aardvark Letterpress "Los Angeles Loteria" Debut Party, scheduled for June 5th, and directly through Aardvark Letterpress. Individual cards will go for $300 and $5,000 for a 19-card set. Thanks Laurie!
