Free give away!

***UPDATE***
The two winners of "Domino: The Book of Decorating" chosen at random are Billy and Poppy. Please email me your mailing info and I'll send out the books. Thanks!

Hey guys. The peeps over at Simon & Schuster sent me two copies of Domino: The Book of Decorating to give away. It's a fantastic book for all levels of interest and will really help you organize your ideas and visualize your interior space. My lovely cousin Quinn gave me the book this year for my birthday along with a Vitra miniature chair which has become one of my favorite desk tschochkes. If you want to be eligible to win a free copy just leave a comment below citing your favorite office desk tschochke (bobble heads? bottles of booze? Nelson desk clocks?). I'll chose the winners and post their names on Monday.

My favourite desk dust-gatherer is my little lucky buddha, given to me by a friend during a month spent in Spain. I like to see his smiling face when I'm staring off and dreaming. :-)

My favorite desk bauble is my glass bluebird of happiness that my aunt gave to me twenty years ago. She gave it to me to remind me to always be happy. When the sun hits it just right, it makes a prism of blue light on the wall. And strangely enough, I do always feel happy when I look at it!

I have a small magnetic devil that holds paperclips - if Iposition the clips just right I can give him extra long horns.

WORK DESK: A magnet that has Jim from the office giving a thumbs up behind his desk. The magnet says: ... if this were my career, I'd have to throw myself in front of a train.

Still trying to figure out what I want to be when I "grow up".

it's not my favorite, but the most memorable desk tchochkie i've come across was a bright yellow Tweety Bird placed on the corner of a legal secretary's desk. did i mention it was 3 feet tall? it had no purpose and didn't exactly blend, so it takes the cake. as for fave, i plan on making it this:

Not into scanning business cards into outlook. I like them tangible. So my MINI filing cabinet provides for storage that definitely outshines any rolodex.

It's a toss-up between my Jill Sander & Marc Jacobs/HuckGee for Kid Robot 'big skull' dolls (seated in Vitra Panton chairs) or my Nara dish filled with vintage green plastic Army Soldiers.

I have a little stone gargoyle from my grandmother. It is only about three inches tall, but the gargoyle is curled into a ball resting its cheek on its hand in what I imagine to be a fit of frustration.

My grandmother had two gargoyles -- the other sits on my brother's desk and is sucking it's thumb while hunched over and crossing its ankles.

My Tim Gunn bobble head doll that says "Make it work" when you push a button, well, it gets me through the day!

My favorite desk tchochkie would have to be a vodoo doll I got on a vacation with my mom in key west. I keep it on my desk and it always makes for good conversation and stress relief when your co-workers are giving you a hard time!

My bird toothpick holder. You press his head down and he picks up a toothpick in his beak. I wonder who created it every time I look at it.
