I've been daydreaming about dining rooms lately (probably because I don't have one) and I love the idea of an open, casual eating area with big long table. There are so many options for chairs and the mixing of chairs and bench chairs that I feel like making a decision on a dining chair would be paralyzing. I love Tolix chairs and think they always look great at the table, but are they too summer housey? Too outdoor cafe chair? Just right? You can get Tolix chairs in the U.S. at DWR, Pottery Barn (yes, Pottery Barn), The Sundance Catalog and at Conran. But if it were me I'd search for some vintage numbers. Check out my November '07 post for more info on the history of the iconic French cafe chair.

If you live in Illinois, you can also buy Tolix at their exclusive dealer, Antiquiare in Highland Park. She works with Tolix direct and you can choose any color or finish you like! Melissa is the owner and she is wonderful and so easy to work with.
If you live in Illinois you can also buy Tolix at Antiquaire in Highland Park. The owner, Melissa, works with them direct in Europe, so you can choose from any style, and color you like. She is the exclusive dealer.
I just discovered your great blog! I've never heard of Tolix before but these are great looking chairs! Makes me wish I needed new chairs right now ;)
Thanks, Nancy
What an amazing chair!! Check out this one too for Antique Dining Chairs.
I called Antiquaire yesterday. They have a ton of Tolix. Check them out:

I'm obsessed with these chairs. I noticed in The September Issue that Anna Wintour has two of them in her Vogue office at her desk.
I LOVE these chairs and want them for my cafe. The only problem is that I live in Australia. Do you know any international dealers? Thanks :)
tolix distributed exclusively in Australia thru THONET AUSTRALIA ph 0394170077
Does anyone know how much they are at the Antiquiare store approx per piece???
Does anyone know of a dealer in Washington State or Oregon? Love these chairs but shipping tends to be ridiculous.
Is anyone aware of Tolix in Canada?
I am obsessed with these chairs. After much research I did find the following: If you go to the Tolix website it only lists Antiquiare and Sundance as distributors. Nothing about Pottery Barn. And Sundance only carries the one finish. If you can get to Highland Park you will be amazed at how many they have. And the colors....
I found this website in the UK that sells Tolix style chairs and stools in lots of colours from stock http://www.cultfurniture.com
They also ship worldwide ;-)
