The world is an iPOD

I don't know if it is just me and my developing general crankiness as I get older, but I feel like the world is starting to get a little too iPod-y. Matt's alarm clock, for example, is a big white brick that his iPOD hooks into and often times it goes off at will, loudly. This point is exemplified by the fact that A. the volume will set itself to maximum decibel. B. it will go to ANY random song. C. He get's up at 4:30 AM to go to work. Bottom line: I don't like waking up to a loud thunder of "Despite all my rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage" before the sun is up...and I blame iPOD! I, on the other hand, have been using an alarm clock that my college roomate (more on her brilliance later) left in my house 3 years ago. It is a little grey plastic digital number with a red heart sticker on top. Curiously I've been using it since 2003 and I've never changed the batteries. I don't think I'm ready to give up mine because it, well, works like clockwork (like every clock should, jeez). But, I am planning a stealth operation to remove Matt's and replace it with something like the Tivoli Audio alarm clock. It's simple and not made with a white plastic shell. Done. Get it at TIVOLI AUDIO.

lizzie- i can't believe you still have that clock! We are connected…
and how wonderful that you are a Tivoli advocate... a few months ago I bought my mom one of their rubber/plastic coated radio numbers which come in every color (a bit more playful than the wood-retro) and she loves it- the radio gets great reception as well.

ps. i agree- ipod is taking over and something must be done... i tried to feel truly akin to ipod's never ending minimalist personality and over simplistic-frustrating interface- i just will never be one of them
