I was in a state of wonderment to learn that Sandy Chilewich's company is celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year, I can't believe it's been that long already. In 1997, the New York designer introduced her RayBowls an innovative use of nylon-Lycra spandex fabric that stretches to cover a stainless-steel frame to make a bowl. Since then Chilewich has been re-imagining textiles and carving out an identity with their contemporary rugs, tabletop accessories and textiles. Chilewich products really do create a simple clean aesthetic, I remember eating at Wolfgang Puck's new restaurant, Cut, last year and imagining there would be white tablecloths and stiff dining chairs, but instead Chilewich place mats and Eames management chairs—and it totally changed my perception of the meal. I am really liking her new woodgrain rugs. Seems like the perfect piece to warm up a loft or industrial space. Small, W 52" L 72", $350 Large, W 70" L 108", $580. Check them out right here.
