>> tedde bears

I'm kind of into these weirdo "tedde" bears by illustrator Daniel Birch, especially the city collection shown above (NY, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Vegas, DC). About a dozen of the L.A. bears were hanging out at the Paul Smith store on Melrose and they are really funny looking, but I seriously debated putting one on our couch (maybe it wouldn't go so well with our David Hicks pillows, but...). They run from $11 for the teeny versions to $60 for the couch/bed size which you can get here, or you can pay $75 at Paul Smith, up to you.

>> totally hooked

I saw these hooked throw pillows made of 100% New Zealand wool over at Zelen Home yesterday—where everything in the store is 25% through Saturday. In the right context they are really goood. If you're not in L.A. you can get them online from Chandler 4 Corners where there are tons of other kitschy designs to choose from. Gator Pillow ($40); Love is all you need ($39).

Ooh La La

On Sunday Matt and I drove down to Laguna Beach for some fish tacos—but really my motivation was to go to the Kerry Cassill store La La, one of my absolute favorite stores behind the Orange Curtain. I love the beachy feel of the store, so appropriate for Kerry's soft, fun, and casual fabrics. I think the Hubz-to-be would agree, doesn't he look fascinated? 1145 South Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, CA.

Trina Turk residential

One of the many reasons why I'm stoked to be planning a wedding in Palm Springs is all the fun design shops out there. Last time I was there I did a vintage shop trip and next time I'm looking forward to stopping into Trina Turk Residential, the only of it's kind, at 895 N. Palm Canyon Drive.

More Muji please!

While I was in Tokyo last month, I went into every Muji store I could, because I love the concept of a "no-brand" store that sells great products at affordable prices—and they are all over Tokyo. I brought back a shirt and sweater for Matt that he absolutely loves, maybe because it's just so simple that it's easy to wear with everything. I wish I could get more stuff for him online for Christmas—especially since the things I got him are a little small (Muji clothing runs at least one size smaller since it's designed around a typical Asian physique). You can get a few clothing items through MoMA and if you're lucky enough to live in NYC, where there's a Muji in Soho, Times Square and Chelsea (hello--there are other cities that need you!) you're set. I might just have to make a quick trip to New York.

Marimekko Cambridge

Yesterday afternoon I walked over the Longfellow Bridge to meet Maryam in Cambridge to check out the only US Marimekko store! But before we went design hunting, she took me on a tour of the Google office, where she works. I'm not allowed to post photos, but just trust that it completely blew me away! The first person I met was her massage therapist and the first thing I saw was a Google sign made out of Jello boxes—to say nothing of the giant chess set and indoor jungle gym. I reluctantly left the office to trek deeper into Cambridge to the Marimekko store that opened last year, but honestly all I remember about Marimekko was my interior monologue of "must find way to get Google to hire me...must find way to get Google to hire me." Maryam did score some great pillows for their home office (NOT ANYTHING CLOSE TO GOOGLE OFFICE!) and we both went home with matching mouse pads. The store will also custom-make any pillow from the huge wall of fabrics they stock for only $65. Regular pillows are $40—great price point, and definitely worth a trip if you're in the Boston area. 350 Huron Ave.
